Timely after a recent controversial visit to the UK by the pope and revelations on the extent of the covering up of child abuse by priests, here is a powerful piece of oratory from the beloved Stephen Fry in which he catalogues the centuries of suffering caused to the innocent by the catholic church, including (in our own times) the church’s assertion that condoms spread aids rather than preventing it. It’s a little long but very factually accurate and deeply impassioned. God bless him!

Stephen Fry is a brilliant speaker and writer. He is at his best when defending secular humanity, language, and fairness, and here he is at his very best indeed.
