There’s another way to do it.
Let’s say I have no problem with the backscatter machines and let’s say I’m nevertheless selected for secondary screening.
I do however have a problem with being coerced into submitting to an invasive pat-down. (I’m a non-US resident, so at some stage I HAVE to comply with TSA requirements, because at some stage I HAVE to leave the country.)
Given that I have no problems with nudity – a backscatter machine effectively strips me – I have no problem in entering a shielded area with 2 TSA operatives of the same (my) gender, taking off my clothes and allowing them to see that I’m concealing nothing.
They can also inspect my 2 year old prosthetic hip implant scar at the same time.
That’s what always gets me secondary screening in the first place…..
