Heartwarming stuff about a 6 yr old Scottish boy whose little brother was very ill in hospital. He will draw you a picture in exchange for a contribution to the childrens’ hospital in question and so far he’s raised over £7,000!

Timely after a recent controversial visit to the UK by the pope and revelations on the extent of the covering up of child abuse by priests, here is a powerful piece of oratory from the beloved Stephen Fry in which he catalogues the centuries of suffering caused to the innocent by the catholic church, including (in our own times) the church’s assertion that condoms spread aids rather than preventing it. It’s a little long but very factually accurate and deeply impassioned. God bless him!

The BBC is showing a fascinating video on its website about Jimi Hendrix’s tiny apartment in London. A hiphop star’s crib this ain’t (though the building had previously been inhabited by the composer Handel in the 18th Century.) The second ‘bedroom’ was a tiny space where the likes of George Harrison ocassionally would sleep over in a little camp bed! And many visiting rock gods fell down the narrow, uneven staircase, (one glass of sherry too many, perhaps?)
