  This is a music video I’ve edited for “Want You Gone,” by Jonathan Coulton, originally written for the hit video game sequel, “Portal 2.” It was edited using footage from “Kin-dza-dza!” (Кин-дза-дза!), a 1986 Soviet comedy-science fiction film directed by Georgi Daneliya. This version of the song is from Coulton’s 2011 album, “Artificial Heart,” which was produced by John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants.

I wanted to avoid making any overt references to the game Portal, or to recreate the video game for this music video (since there are already plenty of those videos to be found online, anyway). My ultimate goal was to make a video that suited this particular version of the song.
